Birdcages with Julia Jowett

I'm sorry it's been so long, I always start these blogs (this is my 3rd) with good intentions of posting every week and finding lots of interesting and exciting things to say.

However, life doesn't work like that and instead of spending loads of time in my studio making lovely things I have been mostly looking after my little one, decorating and planning my wedding and creating time has been sparse.

Yesterday though I had a lovely creative diversion at Hope and Elvis  making wire bird cages with the very talented Julia Jowett.

This is one of Julia's own creations and a fine example of what she was teaching us to make.

I didn't take many pictures of the actual process, I was so absorbed with making and chatting.  Julia provided us all with a paper bag full of all the essential bits and pieces we needed and we could choose from a big selection of buttons, beads, threads and trimmings to decorate our cages.

Lunch, as always, was amazing

Here are some of the (mostly unfinished) results

I bought this little gem from Julia

And I finished my cage when I got home

I love Hope and Elvis workshops, it's money well spent just to have the whole day to myself creating without distraction.
